(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The event was held at Tehran University on Monday to mark the third anniversary of the assassination of Masoud Ali-Mohammadi.
Ali-Mohammadi was killed in Tehran on January 12, 2010 when a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded near his home.
Days after the assassination, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry arrested Majid Jamali Fashi, who later confessed to having killed Ali-Mohammadi on the orders of Mossad.
Iranian Deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard, who also attended the gathering, said: “The relentless efforts of great Iranian scientists like Ali-Mohammadi have allowed Iran to master nuclear science and technology and also to attain great achievements in the aerospace industry and many other fields.”
Several Iranian scientists have been assassinated since 2007, including Majid Shahriari (November 2010), Dariush Rezaei Nejad (July 2011), and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan (January 2012).
“With the help of such scientific assets, we will be able to” counter the economic sanctions, Aboutorabi-Fard added.
The illegal US-engineered sanctions were imposed based on the unfounded accusation that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran's civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
